I caught this little guy late one evening and held him over night because letting him go that late I was worried he would get killed and eaten and the release wouldn’t be safe.
Two snakes were entwined on a rock adjacent to the biggest pool of San Ysidro Creek by the trail where it goes up the concreted part of the trail. It was about 12:30pm. They disentangle then enter the water. The smaller snake starts catching insects and very small fish in the water The smaller snake has clear striping. The larger snake is less obviously marked.
