Crayfish seen trailside on West Ridge Trail in Amicolola Falls State Park, GA.
Finally found them!!! This non-native species was established through bait bucket release, and the only MD population is in the McHenry area.
The rostrum shape and lack of accessory spines rules out the genera Faxonius and Procambarus, and the nearly closed areola rules out the close lookalike C. carinirostris; dull coloration also rules out C. dubius. The orange-tipped claws are also indicative of this species.
Found at fox creek golf course in a burrow roughly 0.5 meters from water. Would like to know species if identifiable.
