A desert Mexican metalmark was seen in a narrow desert wash in Joshua Tree National Park during a NABA Butterfly Count. It was one of six seen this day. Time of the observation was 2:15 p.m. Location is approximate.
Near Lily Pad Lake Trail. Sunny day in the 70’s F at 9-10K feet elevation.
Perhaps a dozen individuals flying in the area, many males acting territorial. Numerous individuals pictured here.
